History

2012 - Atelei Engineering SLU is the result of the strong will of its founding partner Iván PIQUER who, with previous experience in the management of R&D&I teams, decided to become independent and found a company specialized in the development of R&D&I projects.

The company was founded under the tutelage of the SAIOLAN business and innovation center in Mondragón (Gipuzkoa), receiving the following awards and second prizes:

​2013 - After a first embryonic phase of design and development, Atelei creates one of the first wireless access control systems in the world."NEW TECHNOLOGY-BASED COMPANY".. The company becomes part of the Basque innovation agency. "INNOBASQUE". A first round of financing is carried out in which the company is presented to various investors.

2014 - As a result of several corporate decisions of its strategic team, after the economic crisis, the company's strategic plan is rethought and product engineering services are opened to third party companies. It is decided to discontinue R&D activities in several business lines to protect the company's interests. Atelei enters the ESA (European Space Agency) subcontractor directory in the categories of:

• On-Board Data Systems
• Space System Control
• Ground Station System & Networks
• Automation, Teleprescence & Robotics
• Mechanisms & Tribology

2015 - The company continues its path of permanent growth and the first projects for European companies are carried out. With a more trained and qualified corporate staff, several projects are developed for different multinational companies. A second round of financing is carried out and the company is presented in various investment forums.

2016 - The company is consolidated in the market thanks to the multiple projects developed in different sectors: physician UL-CSA, CE and ATEX CE certifications for various products.

2018 - The development of ATESENS AIR+ and ATESENS OPS products for the measurement of air quality in work areas is started. Continued development of products for third party companies through the signing of contractual alliance agreements.

2019 - The company is selected among more than half a thousand international projects as one of the companies that will become part of the BIND 4.0 acceleration program in its third edition. Projects are successfully developed for the multinationals MERCEDES BENZ and ORONA.

2023 - 2025 Atelei as part of its strategy of Research and Development is carrying out the new product development project ZL-2024/00629 - SAWA and is supported by the Hazitek Grantsupport for business R&D. These initiatives are co-financed by the Basque Government and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund 2021-2027 (ERDF).

News - Atelei continues to develop high-value electronic products for multiple companies and to market various products within the so-called INDUSTRY 4.0. 

Atelei, takes its name from the union of two Basque words: ".Atea" (door) and "Leihoa" (window) in reference to those entrepreneurs who decide to close a stage in their lives to open or start a new business venture.
